The Lovely Weather

I loved waking up this morning to the sound of rain and thunder. It has seemed like forever since we actually had a storm in the morning, it’s always a storm in the evening. It’s so windy out there at the moment. I love this type of weather, I love listening to the rain and thunder. My dog doesn’t like it, she gets very upset during storms. We’ve had to pay a few fines over the years to get her released from the pound because she has escaped. We have a fully enclosed back yard, but she actually climbs the fence, no matter how high we have it, and she has even broken windows trying to get out to escape the noise. It’s not just Thunder storms either, it’s fireworks and thumping car stereos that drive her crazy as well.

My dog doesn’t care, he’s happy to run crazily around the backyard with me & howl to the ancestors.

…but tis hard on the puppykins that don’t like it.

I wouldn’t mind the rain if I weren’t so concerned for my dogs… they don’t like it, but are mostly too stupid to go in the shed. Lol, reminds me of when one of them got stuck in a hail storm. Trapped inside by terrible weather, i could only watch as my poor pup went first this way, then that- but everywhere he went, little balls of ice kept hitting his head! Knowing not which way to run, he eventually just sat on the lawn, looking very miserable and rather perplexed. WOW! there goes some thunder now!

Gotta admit, the first time i heard thunder- now that i am living inside my human dads house, i crept up onto the bed with him. He was ok about it, but when the thunder stopped, i was relocated to the foot of the bed- on the floor.

Nowadays, i am used to it, and i stay on the floor.

Viv, you are a legend. Dancing in the rain. YOU BETCHYA.

Its great to do something different, great to be a big kid, and lets face it, it saves on showering that week.

Thanks for the site, I visit it often during this type of weather, but never actually thought to put it up on the site.

It’s amazing, for my young children, this was a rare experience. My son hadn’t seen lightning before.

theshadow - Sophie (answers to dog-dog) is a border collie X - about 11 years old but still acts and looks like a puppy. Most people tend to think she is only about 3-4 years old. With thunder and lightning she’d give you her water bowl usually to scared to eat or drink, without the thunder she would be running around you so much you wouldn’t be able to get near it. She’s very playful.

How did your son act to the lightning solomongrundy? I remember hiding under a blanket when I was 5 pretending to be scared because everyone kept telling me that it was scary and I thought that I had to be scared even if I wasn’t.

My little girl came running into my bedroom this morning crying “Daddy, thunder scares me.'’
“Don’t worry darlin’,'’ says I, “thunder’s just noise, it can’t hurt you. It’s the lightening that’ll kill you.'’
Now there’s a grand piece of parenting for ya! But I don’t hit them! :)

Yeah, thunder - scary stuff. But it’s good we’ve finally got some rain because I’m on the verge of forcing the State Government to stop drinking designer water.

skymija, and dog dog. I know this is very egotistical, and i am very sorry for that, but i can run at 50klm an hour, for hours, and, with the help of some friends, pull a sled weighing about 3/4 of a ton. I hope that is not tooo arrogant.

I am a Child care assistant working for an agency. I travel from Child Care centre to Child Care centre when an extra member of staff is needed. I have a Cert III in children's Services, First Aid, EpiPen (Anaphylaxis) trainin, Emergency Asthma traing and would willingly take on a full time job in a centre if offered. So far my job has taken me to the far reaches of Langwarrin, Brighton, Blackburn and Narrewarren. Every day I could be somewhere different. Meeting new people every day and always being the "New Girl" not quite understanding how things work in a centre and always asking questions.
